Interobserver reliability of the Tile classification system for pelvic fractures among radiologists and surgeons

Dear Editor,

We greatly appreciate the comments by Gómez et al. on our paper “Interobserver reliability of the Tile classification system for pelvic fractures among radiologists and surgeons” [1]. It was no surprise to us to find that the more detailed the classification, the worse the agreement among observers. We agree with Gomez et al. on the requirements that a classification system should have. In our daily practice and in the absence of a better tool, we still use the Tile main classification (and first order subclassification, only to distinguish between B1 and B2 types) in order to “red-flag” the patients with fracture patterns associated with significant bleeding, as identified in one of our previous studies [2].
